My motto is to love greatly, laugh freely, live naturally, do good when you can and stay productive.” –Nabila Khashoggi

Herodotus wrote of the fountain of youth, a spring in which one drinks or bathes and remains young forever. As lovely as this sounds, it is only a myth. There are ways, however, to keep a youthful spirit. After all, age is just a number. Spartan and the Green Egg was created in an organic, enthusiastic way. It came about, at first, for my oldest son and, in the years hence, has remained a source of inspiration to me because it’s all about curiosity. If we can hold onto our curious nature and never stop learning, our spirit will remain youthful, unfettered, and happy. I’ve always been inquisitive about the world, about far-off lands, different cultures, and other ways of seeing and living. This, in my experience, is the basis for feeling enthusiastic, never bored, and young at heart.

Of course, every coin has two sides… I am also an advocate of healthy living. This means eating well, breathing deeply, and, of course, good skincare! You be surprised at what clean beauty can do for you. By drinking lots of water and using a good moisturizer, your skin will look and feel softer, more supple, and more radiant. To learn more about my philosophy of dualism, check out Spartan and the Green Egg and Full Cycle Publications for information o

n teaching children and stimulating adult imaginations. Also check out Nabila K Cosmetics for clean skincare and beauty.

Stay Curious

If we’re always questioning, we’re not complacent. It’s a good idea to keep that inquisitive spirit about the world and those around us. This sort of attitude helps one to stay young at heart with their youthful glow intact. Of course, staying young is a state of mind, but it also has to do with wellness. This, to me, means drinking a lot of water and eating as well as possible (trying to avoid lots of junk food, GMOs, processed food, etc.). There’s nothing better than learning about food, planting a garden, watching it grow, and then reaping its bounty. I love enjoying summer salads with my family more than almost anything.

Other than staying curious, one should also focus on inner wellness and listening to what’s going on within your body. Self-care—whether it’s a massage, bubble bath, spa day, me time, or a walk in nature—is also very important. Make time for yourself and treat yourself, too. This is where Nabila K cosmetics and skincare comes into play. Look into the Nabila K bath salts, oils, lotions, creams, and candles available for making your life just a little more comfortable and luxurious.

Welcome the Ecstatic Experience

The soul should always stand ajar, ready to welcome the ecstatic experience.”

Emily Dickinson

Make yourself aware of and available to the world around you and the good things it has to offer. If you are open and accepting of an ecstatic experience, it will happen. The other side of the coin is that, if you close yourself off, you might miss these wonderful opportunities.

Keep Your Eyes Open

Those who look for beauty tend to find it. Every day can be seen as a great opportunity for adventure, learning something new, and meeting fabulous people. If you keep your eyes open, who knows what you’ll see! This will also make you feel youthful. With age comes wisdom (hopefully), and if we’re lucky, we’ll retain our child-like glee and wonder.

One of my absolute favorite things—and something that is sorely lacking today—is practicing the habits of a “flaneur.” This is a French term for one who wanders. Walking around a foreign city—especially a European city—without a map is one of life’s great adventures. Winding cobblestone streets, old cathedrals, stone monuments, and cafes with the perfect shot of espresso or Aperol Spritz are all on the agenda for anyone who finds themselves strolling around a typical European city.

Café Culture

The idea of just wandering off to a café with a notebook and writing and seeing where that takes me for awhile is just bliss.” –J.K. Rowling

Café culture in Europe (most notably France and Italy) is famous worldwide. Italy is the birthplace of espresso, so naturally, Rome, Milan, and Venice are ideal cities to visit if you wish to sit in a charming café sipping caffè. Norway is also known for its enormous café culture; people consume copious amounts of coffee. Sitting in a café while watching the passersby is where great ideas are born. Make sure to take a little notebook and pen with you to write down ideas, and while you’re at it, have a book to read, too.

Cafés are where friends meet to chat and watch the world go by. This can last for hours. After coffee, it’s time for cocktails! Europeans truly value their social lives and they can be found at pubs or brasseries on any given night. Another truly delicious part of Europe (especially France) is the beautifully presented treats in shop windows. Go into any boulangerie or patisserie for the yummiest baguette or pastry.

Art, Legacy and Heritage

Well, I said, ‘Paris is old, is many centuries. You feel, in Paris, all the time gone by. That isn’t what you feel in New York.’” –James Baldwin

When every corner has a story to tell, it doesn’t matter if you get lost! Because European countries are so old, there’s always something remarkable to see. Whether you stumble upon ancient ruins, a cathedral, a cemetery filled with cenotaphs, or a beautiful fountain, you always get the feeling that they’re a part of history in Europe. The art museums are unsurpassed, so if you find yourself in Paris, visit the Louvre or, if you’re in London, marvel at works in the Tate Modern.

A Leisurely Pace

Lingering over a meal while savoring a good bottle of wine with friends is ubiquitous in Europe. Savoring food and drink is one of life’s great pleasures. It is also a great dietary hack. If you eat more slowly, you’ll realize when you’re full. People also tend to eat later in European cities. In Spain, everyone takes a siesta in the afternoon, so businesses shutter their doors, and the cities get quiet. Europeans are, by and large, a lot more relaxed than Americans. They value their jobs, but money and business aren’t everything; it’s essential to make time for friends, conversation, and, most of all, family.

And then get moving!

Walking and cycling are huge parts of everyone’s daily lives in Europe. There are absolutely no cars in certain areas (take Venice, for example). Making exercise a p

art of your routine is one of the best things you can do for your health. One doesn’t necessarily have to go to the gym to break a sweat. The best type of exercise is the kind that happens organically.

Another charming and healthy aspect of Europe is the fresh food. This means going to the market every day to buy fruits and vegetables, meat from the local butcher, and so on. Eating unprocessed food and using less plastic are healthy habits for our bodies as well as the environment. Europe is also known for its enchanting flea markets (especially Paris and Amsterdam). You never know what sort of treasure you’ll find!

Most of all, I am a photo maniac. I love pictures. I must have over a million photographs.”

One of my great hobbies is collecting photographs. Way before the internet, I endlessly added to my archive and consider fashion and beauty photography among my greatest inspirations. The first great beauty and fashion photographers for Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar have supplied me with endless creative motivation.

My Personal Aesthetic:

Melvin Sokolsky’s otherworldly photographs of fashionable women floating in bubbles (most notably his “Bubble on Seine” for Harper’s Bazaar, 1963) have been nothing short of a revelation for me and my personal aesthetic. I’ve had many portraits taken over the years, and the ones I have creative control over have, lately, involved me surrounded by products of my design (for Nabila K) displayed stylishly in floating bubbles.

I also love anything whimsical that has to do with insects, especially butterflies. Melvin Sokolsky’s amazing photographs of women’s faces obscured by projected images of

winged insects are right up my alley, and you can see the resemblance in my butterfly-filled portraits. Irving Penn’s inspired 1995 photograph, “Bee-Stung”

is also a great source of inspiration for my personal and professional beauty and lifestyle designs (as it so cleverly depicts a woman’s rouged lips complete with a lighted bumble bee).

Lifestyle (Nabila K, Spartan and the Green Egg)

Horst P. Horst’s incredible 1976 photograph, “Face Paint,” depicting a model with her eyes done up to resemble hot air balloons, embodies a flower child aesthetic that is, at once, enchanting, playful, and fashionable. My stationery designs for Nabila K depict hot air balloons attached to boats in faraway fantasy landscapes, bubbles beneath the ocean filled with colorful fish and messages in a bottle, majestic city skylines, colorful insects, and even more hot air balloons. Let’s just say they’re a favorite motif of mine! My beauty and lifestyle collection (that has also inspired my line of children’s books and accompanying educational materials, Spartan and the Green Egg), Nabila K offers luxurious silk, cashmere and modal scarves decorated with unique, one-of-a-kind artwork. This artwork (which can also be seen on my collection of postcards) includes flowers and, of course, whimsical insects (mainly ladybugs, dragonflies, and butterflies), hot air balloons, and fanciful floating bubbles.

Nabila K Cosmetics

Irving Penn was arguably one of the greatest beauty photographers of the 20th century. For my line of clean cosmetics, I’ve always loved a good swatch or smudge photo that really captures the intense pigment of a product, especially lipstick or gloss. That’s why, to convey the high-end quality of Nabila K’s all-natural, paraben-free lipsticks, Penn’s “Mouth” comes to mind.

For my skincare and bath products (one of my first loves), Horst P. Horst’s simple black and white photo of a glass bottle and Lisa Fonssagrives’ hands surrounded by tiny white flowers (taken in 1941) really sums up my vision. Understated elegance and classic, organic ingredients have always motivated me. Nabila K’s vision for skincare, beauty, and bath products is that luxury has nothing to do with a price tag; it’s a lifestyle. Playing with glass bottles as a child is what motivated me to create my first Nabila K product, bubble bath. Of course, the lifestyle products also encompass this aesthetic (as you can see with my candles and oil fragrance diffusers).

When in doubt go to the library.” -J.K. Rowling

Have you ever wanted to live in a bookstore or stay overnight huddled within the library stacks? If you love the look and smell of old books, you probably spend a lot of time collecting used tomes and poring over yellowed leaves.

Do you have bookshelf wealth? This is a TikTok trend sweeping the internet, where homes are highlighted for their incredible libraries. But it’s not all about appearance; it’s really about knowledge and actually reading the books you own (at least for bibliophiles). Some are irked by this new décor trend because it seems superficial; it’s one thing to own all the classic tomes and another to actually read them. We know that people who really enjoy their books end up cracking the spine, dog-earing the pages, and writing in the margins. If books are simply a décor trend, are they actually being enjoyed? I think there’s a good halfway stance to take: yes, you can read and enjoy your library while keeping it well decorated and filled with other objects of style and affection, such as favored framed prints, thoughtfully arranged vases of flowers, and sentimental trinkets.

Bookcore” Aesthetic and how to achieve it:

What is it? Basically, “bookcore” is about adorning your home with books in a stylish way. We love haphazard piles of books, nooks, and crannies filled to the brim with cu shions to sit on or even a ladder on which to perch while getting lost in the stacks. There’s just something about book clutter that’s cozy and intoxicating (for us book lovers, anyway).

Some Tips for Creating A Cozy Book-Centric Ambiance:

  • First off, build a library. Take all the books you’ve collected over the years and arrange them on sturdy bookshelves.
  • Coffee table books are ideal for everyone! Cocktail party guests love having something interesting to look at; books also make for great conversation starters.
  • Stack books on end tables and on your wet bar; use books as a pedestal for showcasing an attractive work of art or floral arrangement.
  • Reclaim and cover old books. Fix broken binding and worn covers by creating new ones.
  • Show off your cookbooks; create an area in your kitchen just for books that highlight your favorite recipes.
  • Create a wall of books.
  • Showcase your favorite book covers! Frame the art that really stands out.
  • S tack books.
  • Off-set books with decorative objects and mementos.

Dark Academia” is an idealized version of the literary/higher education aesthetic. Think of “bookcore” (only more austere, a bit more upper-crust, and, rather than personal libraries, university libraries are prized for their ambiance). Private libraries in “dark academia” are ones that can now be found at the Morgan Library and Museum and the Frick. They usually include lots of brocade furniture, oil paintings, fireplaces, hidden passageways, dim lighting, and Tiffany lamps. There is, of course, a real admiration of the past by all who seek out this particular aesthetic and subculture.

Public libraries are, of course, one of our most important resources. Without them, we wouldn’t have any of the information we need to learn about these new

trends. With free public WiFi and accessibility to every book imaginable, peace and quiet to read and study, public libraries give us what we need to learn about the authors that make up “bookcore” and “dark academia” as a trending aesthetic. Where else would we get free copies of George Eliot’s “Middlemarch” or Dante’s “The Divine Comedy” (and no, I’m not talking about eBooks, although those are available through public libraries as well)? Read more about our precious resource, the need for it, and why daydreaming is essential (according to Neil Gaiman).

Passion and Perfume

Since their discovery, people have been perfuming themselves with the king of flowers, the rose. You may wonder why its allure has lasted throughout the centuries, and the answer is, at once, simple and also quite complex, just like its fragrance.

Roses are, undoubtedly, the most romantic flower and are always associated with love and passion. The red rose immediately evokes thoughts of delicate beauty and inflamed desire so, of course, they are associated with Valentine’s Day.

Kneading lavender powder with musk rose water is, according to “The Perfumed Garden” (an erotic Arabic text from the fifteenth century by Nefzawi), a cure for unwanted smells that affect the most amorous parts of the body.

From fairytales to Romantic poets, roses symbolize an exquisite quality that seems almost out of reach or unattainable. Like the magic rose under glass in “Beauty in the Beast” or Snow White’s lips that are as red as a rose, there’s a mystical quality that permeates our associations with the flower.

From William Blake’s “crimson joy” (The Sick Rose, 1789) to Lord Byron’s “roses of love” (Love’s Last Adieu, 1849), the Romantic poets revered this blossom as the most idealistic.

Nabila K’s “Rose Garden”

A bottled rose garden, Nabila K offers a roll-on perfume distilled from the purest essential oil. With a portable method of application, you can experience the true luxury and romance of roses anywhere at any time. Surprise that special someone in your life with the ultimate romantic gesture this Valentine’s Day or any time of the year. You will literally end up smelling like a rose!

The rose has an extensive history in the world of perfumes. Rosewater has been used as a key beauty treatment since the eighteenth century. Beloved by the Arabs and Berbers of Morocco, the ancient Persians, Romans, Greeks, and Egyptians, roses are synonymous with exotic fragrances and have been used in religious ceremonies, medicine, and aromatherapy. Rose oil is still widely used today for its aromatic benefits. Did you know that roses are used for their therapeutic qualities, and the fragrance can act as an antidepressant?

Rose scent

Why do roses smell so sweet? One reason is that they contain a lot of essential oils. The other is their celebrated thin, delicate petals (which allow for the fragrance to be released more easily). Roses also contain natural sugars that release a perfume when the flower is cut.

The scent of roses is known to enhance romantic attraction, promote relaxation, and even help us sleep more soundly. There’s nothing quite like roses to suggest seduction and feelings of love. Marie Antoinette is credited with the creation of the first modern rose perfume (during the 18th century). While roses have been used since ancient and medieval times, the distillation process has become much more refined and sophisticated. With Nabila K’s “Rose Garden,” just a dab of fragrance goes a long way. Because it is so finely crafted from pure essential oils, Nabila K’s roll-on perfume captures and bottles the essence of roses so you can linger in a rose garden year-round.

A good massage is one of life’s great pleasures and, for some, an absolute necessity. Nothing combats tight, sore muscles like a deep tissue rubdown. Traveling can be hard on your muscles and skin; after being on a plane for hours, I always stay deeply hydrated by drinking lots of water and using my Nabila K creams, lotions, and serums. Not being able to stretch and too much sitting can wear on your body; this is why movement is crucial. There’s nothing more regenerative or soothing than a full-body massage. Tight muscles are the root cause of myriad issues, and regular massages can help to prevent, treat, and manage pain.

Keep calm and book a massage.”

Ancient Rituals of Holistic Healing

What are your favorite methods of massage? There are many different types that can help promote physical and psychological well-being.

Traditional shirodhara massage is native to Southeast Asia, is based on ancient principles of Ayurveda, and has been used for thousands of years.

There’s a Scandinavian ethos of taking a sauna and then a cold plunge for wellness (you can see Helena Christensen doing this on Instagram). Also, if you’re feeling really decadent and adventurous, try getting a Platza at your local spa. This is a traditional wellness massage found in Russian bathhouses that involves being gently whipped by a fragrant bundle of oak leaves.

Beauty Treatments; Facials

You are one facial away from a good mood.

When it comes to beauty and wellness, we’ve come a long way but sometimes simple and straightforward is best. That’s why the Nabila K brand is all natural, clean, and organic. It’s classic, and it works.

•  Staying true to your habits can be a good thing. For one, I’ve always loved creams, lotions, and serums, and massaging them into my skin is a wonderful, relaxing ritual I perform in the morning and, most especially, at night before bed. With each stroke of Nabila K’s elixirs and oils, I feel like I’m massaging away all my stress and fatigue. A hard day literally melts away with each product I apply; doing so with care is a great routine and beauty secret!

  • Try Nabila K’s Argan Oil, Hibiscus and Rose Face Elixir as the best-kept beauty secret in a bottle. Just a few drops strategically massaged into your most sensitive skin will leave you glowing. Because the elixir locks in natural moisture while supplying additional antioxidants, your skin will look and feel restored. The Damask rose was a closely guarded secret of the East for so long, and now that the secret’s out, it’s no wonder it’s the national flower of Iran.

  • Finally, a facial oil that still allows the skin to breathe! Manuka Honey Renewal Deep Hydration Face Oil is Nabila K’s deeply hydrating serum that attracts moisture and helps your skin retain it without greasy residue. Manuka Honey face oil combined with coconut oil and the perfect properties of safflower oil balances pH levels, clears complexions, firms, and hydrates.

Massaging your face (with or without oil or serum) with a gua sha is incredibly effective for smoothing out lines and potential (and even existing) wrinkles. The cool stone of your facial roller helps naturally treat and prevent inflammation. Any sort of facial massage is beneficial for health and beauty wellness because it promotes healthy circulation and blood flow. Ice facial massagers (kept in the freezer) have become increasingly popular but are really just sophisticated patents on an age-old secret. Ice cubes have always been used to tighten and de-puff the skin; it’s basically an instant facelift!

Fran Lebowitz wasn’t wrong when she said the best form of safe sex is having your hair shampooed at a salon. Nothing quite compares to this quiet form of luxury and self-care. A scalp massage is incredibly effective when it comes to relieving stress and tension. Try turning ordinary hygiene into something enjoyable and transformative with my line of Nabila K shampoos. All infused with biotin and collagen, your hair will look and feel beautiful and healthy. Just lather fully and really massage your scalp; this not only feels great but is also the key to really clean hair. If you wash your hair more thoroughly, you’ll see that you don’t have to wash it as frequently (and this is great because it allows more time for oil to gradually build up and naturally keep your scalp from over-drying).

Pretty Pedis

Don’t forget to pamper your feet, especially this winter. Reflexology (when pressure is applied to parts of the body, specifically feet) has been known to work wonders for all sorts of ailments. One thing we can all agree on is that, after a long day (especially in heels), sore feet are a big problem and can severely limit mobility. Taking care of one’s feet (including their appearance) instantly makes you feel better. Have your own spa day in the privacy of your bathroom with Nabila K’s Peppermint Mani/Pedi Oil.

Body Beautiful

Nabila K Body Oils are some of the most sumptuous, sensual gifts you can give any time of year! Massaging oil into your skin is something you can do for

yourself or your partner. Trust me, they’ll love it! Talk about a treat! Sometimes, something as simple as touch is what we’ve all been craving.

Available in fragrances such as Nicotiana, Jasmine, Manuka Honey, Peony, Polynesian Monoi, and Royal Wood, Nabila K offers just about every scent imaginable.

For more information on all the Nabila K products mentioned above, check out the links below and visit the website.

Houses and rooms are full of perfumes, the shelves are crowded with perfumes, I breathe the fragrance myself and know it and like it.” –Walt Whitman, Song of Myself

To evoke memory through scent is a luxury. I have been enamored of perfumes, lotions, and potions my entire life, ever since I was a little girl taking bubble baths and playing with elegant glass bottles. The seductive allure of perfume never palls for me. Anyone can make their life more rich and more luxurious just by using their favorite exotic scents and botanical oils.

This is why I started my line of bath, body, and makeup products: to bring a little clean beauty and some of my favorite scents to fruition (in many forms). Some of my favorites include jasmine, lavender, sandalwood, and rosemary. You’d be surprised at some of the many fabulous tidbits of information surrounding some of my favorite fragrances.

As other minds sail on the crest of music mine floats on the waves of your perfume.”

  • Jasmine is known and loved for its heady yet delicate sweetness, tiny white flowering vines, and aphrodisiac qualities. Because it blooms at night, jasmine is a bit of a mysterious and romantic plant. It is common in India for married women to wear jasmine flowers on their fingers as wedding rings and in their hair as beauty accents. Even men in Morocco and Tunisia can be seen wearing sprigs of jasmine tucked behind their ears to enjoy the sweet fragrance.

Known as the “Queen of the Night,” jasmine has been used to perfume bath water and fountains flowing in reverence to Egyptian gods and goddesses since the 1st millennium BC.

The fragrance of jasmine in the garden, at twilight, is like the perfume of a celestial woman.” –Kahlil Gibran

  • Nabila Koffers “Jazz” perfume with jasmine and essential oils, a Jasmine & Honey diffuser to flood your surroundings with this favorite fragrance, candles for perfume and ambiance, and soothing body oil (with argan, shea, jojoba, and aloe vera) that can be added to baths, used as a moisturizer or with a massage.

  • Lavender: there is so much myth and folklore surrounding lavender. It’s been said that Cleopatra favored lavender as a lure in her seductions and that the asps that killed her hid in lavender bushes. It is also believed that the sacred virgin, Mary, hung Christ’s clothes on a lavender bush after the crucifixion and, when banished from the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve took lavender with them as tokens.
  • With lavender lip polish, bath salts, bubble baths, candles, diffusers, hygienic wipes, shampoo, and conditioner, Nabila K has everything you need to fill your life with the lovely scent of Southern France in summer.
  • Sandalwood oil comes from the tree Santalum album, native to India and Southeast Asia. One of the most expensive woods in the world (as it’s so rare), sandalwood comes from a soft tree that keeps its fragrance for decades and is synonymous with incense. Used for centuries in India and ancient Egypt, the earthy-scented, seductive wood served as a religious sacrament and favored perfume.

First discovered thousands of years ago, it remains a sacred and protected tree in India, where it is widely considered a sign of reincarnation. It is also thought, in Hinduism, to bring one closer to divinity.

Nabila K offers a body oil aptly called “Royal Wood” because you will, upon use, feel like the queen of a tropical forest grove. Put a few drops of the oil into a running bath or rub directly onto your skin (it’s that gentle and organic) to treat dryness and restore elasticity and glow.

• Try Nabila K’s Botanical Best Collagen and Biotin Shampoo and Conditioner for gorgeous hair this summer. With rosemary as a key ingredient, your hair will appear fuller, rejuvenated, shiny, and manageable, with a fresh evergreen fragrance. Rosemary is known for its revitalizing, herbal scent that will transport you to a forest experience.

For all you makeup lovers and beauty enthusiasts out there, you’ll need a few things to go along with your glamour routine. Before applying your powders, paints, and polishes, you’ll need a solid prep!

One of the secret miracle ingredients here is milk thistle. Everyone is raving about the wonders of this magical plant; it’s a not-so-little-known fact among the glamour elite. The cast of “Barbie” used milk thistle products to achieve flawless, glowing skin. With Nabila K products, you can harness the power of milk thistle to slow down the aging process. Because it’s loaded with antioxidants, it detoxes and protects your skin while reducing inflammation. Milk thistle is also beneficial for skin prone to acne and eczema.

Along with milk thistle, try a hint of peppermint to make your toilette even more refreshing. Nabila K’s peppermint-infused products will leave your skin in mint condition! There’s nothing cooler or sweeter than peppermint during the holiday and winter season; not only is it festive, it’s also incredibly beneficial. Whether you’re eating a candy cane or using a peppermint lip scrub, the oils help to ease the stomach, aid in healthy digestion (when ingested), and reinvigorate the senses when used as a beauty aid.

Prep your Pretty with Peppermint

  • Organic Peppermint Lip Balm is a nourishing delight for thirsty lips. There’s no better prep for lipstick, liner, or gloss than a good, all-natural balm. Soothe your dry, chapped lips this winter with Nabila K’s ultra-conditioning lip balm infused with natural oils and antioxidants.
  • Peppermint Lip Polish: There’s no sweeter winter treat than polishing your lips to perfection with the cooling flavor of peppermint. Nabila K’s lip polishes (available in twelve flavors) are good enough to eat! They’re all natural and will leave your lips feeling soft, kissable, and ready for any makeup.

  • Mint & Chamomile Toner: Nabila K’s organic skin toner is balancing and refreshing. It’s the skincare product you need to boost your appearance after cleansing (and is gentle enough to be used morning and night). With the refreshing light scents of peppermint, spearmint, and chamomile, your skin will feel clean and reinvigorated after removing your makeup.

Pre and Post-Makeup: Harness the Miracle of Milk Thistle

Wash it all away

One of the most important parts of wearing makeup is remembering to wash it off before bed. Some of us are better at this than others but, believe me, your skin will thank you. Try Nabila K’s luxurious face washes and masks to ramp up your post-makeup, pre-bedtime routine.

Don’t forget your hair: Nabila K has conditioner infused with milk thistle as a key ingredient. Sometimes, when we’re focused on our skincare and makeup, we forget that a luscious, healthy head of hair is absolutely essential to looking and feeling radiant. Nabila K’s conditioners nourish every strand of hair with plant-based proteins. Milk thistle promotes a beautiful, full mane by strengthening the follicles and preventing premature hair fall.

Nurturing Wellness in the Winter: Embracing Self-Care and Health Tips

The winter season, with its crisp air and frost-kissed landscapes, ushers in a time of reflection and renewal. It’s a season when families come together, celebrating the warmth of togetherness while the world outside turns cold. However, the winter season can also bring its own set of challenges to our physical and emotional well-being. As the days grow shorter and the temperature drops, it’s essential to prioritize self-care and health to ensure you and your family stay vibrant and well. In this article, we’ll explore how to nurture wellness during the winter and provide easy tips to guide you through this transformative season.

Embrace the Great Outdoors

A sunset over a snowy mountain
Description automatically generated

While the call of a warm and cozy home is strong during the winter, it’s essential to continue embracing the great outdoors. Fresh air, even in cold temperatures, can invigorate the mind and body. Bundle up in layers, put on a comfortable pair of boots, and take a family walk in a nearby park. The brisk air can awaken your senses, and the sight of nature’s winter beauty can be truly captivating. Just a short stroll can do wonders for your mood, helping to combat the winter blues and inspire a sense of wonder in your family.

Nourish with Winter Comfort Foods

Winter is the perfect time to relish the comfort of hearty, warming foods. Dive into a pot of vegetable stew or a bowl of chicken noodle soup. Savor roasted root vegetables and freshly baked bread. These comforting foods are not only delicious but also nutritious, providing your body with essential vitamins and minerals needed to fend off winter ailments. It’s also a wonderful opportunity for family bonding; involve your children in meal preparation and share stories around the dining table.

Stay Hydrated and Protect Your Skin

The dry indoor air and harsh outdoor winds of winter can take a toll on your skin. Hydration is key. Drink plenty of water throughout the day and use a good quality moisturizer to keep your skin soft and supple. Encourage your family to maintain a healthy skincare routine, from applying lip balm to regularly using moisturizing lotions. This practice will protect your skin from the harsh elements and ensure you all stay comfortable and glowing throughout the season. Keep in mind that the same products you use on yourself may not be good to use on a child’s delicate skin. Make sure that you use products designed with them in mind.

Prioritize Mental Wellness

The winter season, with its limited daylight hours, can sometimes bring a sense of melancholy. It’s essential to prioritize mental wellness. Take time for self-reflection, meditate, or practice mindfulness. Engaging in these activities can help combat feelings of stress and anxiety, allowing you to approach the season with a calm and centered mind. Encourage your family to join in; these practices can be beneficial for both adults and children.

Regular Exercise is Vital

It can be tempting to hibernate during the winter, but regular exercise remains essential for your family’s well-being. You don’t need to venture to the gym; there are numerous indoor exercises and activities you can enjoy as a family. From yoga sessions in your living room to dance parties in the kitchen, these activities not only keep you physically fit but also offer a fun way to bond with your loved ones. Regular exercise boosts your mood, keeps your energy levels up, and helps you stay active even when the world outside is cold and unforgiving.

Maintain Healthy Sleep Patterns

Winter’s shorter days can sometimes disrupt your sleep patterns. However, it’s vital to ensure that both you and your family get a good night’s rest. Create a warm and cozy sleep environment. Use blackout curtains to minimize the effect of shorter daylight hours and maintain a regular sleep schedule. Adequate sleep not only keeps you alert and productive but also plays a crucial role in boosting your immunity, ensuring you and your family stay well throughout the season.

Foster a Sense of Community

Plan for Cozy Family Time

The long winter nights offer the perfect opportunity for cozy family time. Organize movie nights, game nights, or simply enjoy story time by the fireplace. These moments of togetherness create lasting memories and contribute to your family’s emotional well-being. Sharing laughter, storytelling, and love is an integral part of keeping everyone’s spirits high during the winter season.

Prepare for Winter Emergencies

Winter brings with it its share of emergencies, from power outages to extreme weather events. It’s important to prepare an emergency kit for your family. Stock it with essentials like non-perishable food, bottled water, first-aid supplies, flashlights, and warm blankets. By being prepared, you can ensure that your family remains safe and comfortable in the event of a winter emergency.

The winter season is a transformative period, a time for reflection, renewal, and celebration. By embracing outdoor activities, nurturing your body with comfort foods, maintaining a healthy sleep pattern, and focusing on mental wellness, you can ensure your family’s well-being throughout this season. Additionally, fostering a sense of community and dedicating time to cozy family moments will create a positive and lasting impact. Winter is not just a season; it’s an opportunity to grow closer as a family and nourish your well-being in every sense.

Setting the Mood: The Importance of Fall Self-Care

As the seasons shift, our bodies and minds often respond to the changes in temperature and daylight. Fall, with its cooler weather and shorter days, provides the perfect opportunity to slow down, unwind, and focus on self-care. Taking time for yourself during this season is not only a way to pamper your body but also to rejuvenate your spirit.

The fall season can bring a unique set of challenges, from cooler and drier air that can impact your skin to the increased stresses of daily life. It’s crucial to adapt your self-care routine to cater to these specific needs. One of the best ways to do so is by incorporating a warm bath into your regimen.

Infused with shea butter and olive oil, this body lotion is specifically formulated to keep your skin soft, supple, and deeply moisturized.

Shea butter is a natural emollient, rich in vitamins and fatty acids that provide intense hydration. It’s perfect for combating the dryness that autumn can bring. Olive oil, a classic Mediterranean beauty secret, is celebrated for its nourishing and antioxidant properties, helping to protect your skin from the elements.

With the delightful aroma of the Nomad Spice Body Lotion, you’ll be carried away to an autumnal world filled with the warm scents of spices and comfort. As you massage this lotion onto your skin, you’re not only sealing in moisture but also indulging in a sensory experience that’s as cozy as wrapping yourself in a soft blanket.

Organic Brown Sugar Body Scrub

Exfoliation is a key component of any skincare routine, and it’s especially important in the fall when our skin may need a little extra TLC. Nabila K Organic Brown Sugar Body Scrub is a wonderful addition to your self-care rituals during this season.

This luxurious scrub features organic brown sugar as its exfoliating base, which gently removes dead skin cells, leaving your skin radiant and refreshed. Brown sugar is a natural source of glycolic acid, which can help in the regeneration of new skin cells and reveal a smoother, brighter complexion.

The Organic Brown Sugar Body Scrub is not only effective but also kind to your skin. It’s enriched with natural oils like almond and jojoba, which provide an additional dose of hydration and nourishment. Using this scrub in the bath or shower can become a mini-spa experience as you massage it into your skin, feeling the stresses of the day wash away.

The Ultimate Fall Self-Care Routine

While each of these Nabila K products is exceptional on its own, they can be combined to create the ultimate fall self-care routine. Begin with a warm bath using the Heart of Provence Bubble Bath. Allow the soothing scents of lavender and sage to wash over you as you unwind and let the warm water ease your tension. Once or twice a week, introduce the Organic Brown Sugar Body Scrub into your routine. Apply it in gentle, circular motions during your bath or shower. As you rinse it off, you’ll reveal skin that’s not only exfoliated but also beautifully soft and radiant.

After your bath, gently pat your skin dry and apply the Nomad Spice Body Lotion. Take a moment to massage the lotion into your skin, allowing the shea butter and olive oil to deeply hydrate and nourish. This step is not only practical for your skin’s health but also incredibly indulgent. During the coming holiday season, it is vitally important that you don’t neglect your self-care routine, or if you don’t have one…start one. It’s a gift you give to yourself.
